LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Coastal Carolina women's indoor track & field team recorded three top-three finishes and a total of six top-10 individual finishes on day two of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Saturday in Lynchburg, Va.
CCU freshman jumper
Camryn Lorick recorded a third-place finish on the day with a height of 1.64 meters in the women's high jump event, while sophomore
Shani'a Bellamy turned in a third-place finish in the women's 300-meter dash with a time of 39.50, the second-fastest time in CCU history for the sprint event behind only Erica Peake and her time of 38.89 in 2013.
Behind Bellamy in the 300-meter finals was fellow sophomore,
Lauren Gordon, with her time of 40.32, which was good enough for ninth overall on the day and ranks as the seventh-best time on Coastal's all-time indoor track & field performance list.
In the 60-meter hurdles finals, it was sophomore
Sydney Clemens who posted a top-three finish, as the sophomore turned in a career-best time of 8.55 to place third overall. Her time of 8.55 was the fourth-best time in CCU history and put her four spots in front of Bellamy who recorded her second top-10 finish of the day, placing seventh with a time of 8.86.
Nikki Boon also posted a top-10 finish on the track on Saturday, as she ran across the finish line to place seventh overall in the women's 500-meters with her time of 1:21.42, while in the 200-meters dash, freshman
Mekenze Kelley finished sixth overall with her new personal-best time of 24.47, which moved her up to seventh on the CCU all-time performance list.
Just missing out on a top-10 finish of her own on Saturday was
Kayla Sweeney who placed 12th in the 200-meter finals with a time of 25.05, while fellow Chant
Tariney Pepper finished 16th in the 300-meter dash with a time of 42.00.
The Chanticleers will next be in action at the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 21-22 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
