Chanticleers Open Home Portion of Season Against William & Mary

Coastal Carolina women’s lacrosse looks to snap three-game skid

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will open the home portion of their 2022 schedule against William & Mary, March 16. The opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C.
 
The Chanticleers are 2-4 on the year and will be looking to snap a three-game skid. The Tribe enters play with an identical 2-4 record on the season having lost each of their last two contests.
 
COASTAL vs. WILLIAM & MARY HISTORY
 
The two teams have met twice prior to Wednesday's matchup with both teams picking up a victory on their home field. In the last meeting, the Chanticleers earned a 12-11 overtime in Conway on March 24, 2019.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
 
The Chants are led by Hannah Demis with 14 points on four goals and 10 assists, while Lauren Cremen (10 goals, 2 assists) and Kayla Downey (7 goals, 4 assists) follow just behind with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Avery Snyder (16) and Avery McIlwaine (13) get the offense started by winning a combined 29 draw controls
 
Defensively, Coastal goalkeeper Claire Martell has faced 157 shots and made 48 saves on the season, while Marissa Munson has caused eight turnovers. Claudia Kelly, Jordan Gertz, and Cremen have chipped in defensively with six, four, and four caused turnovers, respectively.
 
ABOUT WILLIAM & MARY
 
William & Mary is led by Belle Martire with 18 goals, while Lauren Russell and Sarah Cipolla have 10 and eight goals, respectively. The Tribe's Martire and Cipolla are leading the team with four assists, while Caroline Hertzberg (18) and Cipolla (17) lead the team with a combined 35 draw controls.
 
On the defensive end, Elise Palmer has started all six matches between the pipes and has made 74 saves while facing 214 shots. Hertzberg and Caroline Donovan have helped stop the opponents' offense from scoring by causing seven turnovers each, while Palmer (12), Hertzberg (11), Donovan (10), and Courtney Vasquenza (10) have grabbed a combined 43-of-122 ground balls.
