CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team will take the sand at home for the first time this season when the Chanticleers host the Coastal Carolina Invitational this weekend, March 19-20. Taking part in the tournament will be the host Coastal Carolina, Erskine, Tusculum, and Jacksonville State.
The host Chants enter the weekend at 11-4 overall on the season after winning three matches at the College of Charleston Classic last weekend. The Chanticleers defeated Morehead State and Jacksonville by a score of 5-0 and dropped Eastern Kentucky 3-2, yet suffered a 3-2 loss to FGCU at the Charleston event.
Leading the Chants on the season is the No. 3 pair of
Ellie Hanford and
Natalie Honzovicova who have a 14-1 record on the year and are the reigning Conference USA pair of the week. The top-flight duo of
Irena Drobnjak and
Madie Lichty enter the weekend on a three-match winning streak.
Tusculum enters the Invitational at 10-6 overall having been swept at the Georgia State Day of Duals two weeks ago.
Erskine is 6-4 on the year, going 4-0 in a tri-meet with Eastern Kentucky and Spartanburg Methodist College last time out, while Jacksonville State comes in at 0-6 on the season. Last time out, the Gamecocks fell to Chattanooga in two matches by a score of 4-1.
