Coastal and No. 20 Clemson Set to Clash Tuesday Night

Coastal will open up an eight-game road trip on Tuesday at Clemson
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina baseball team will open up an eight-game road trip on Tuesday night, March 22, as the Chanticleers will take on No. 20 nationally-ranked Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, S.C. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET.
The Chanticleers are 11-7-1 overall this season, while the Tigers are 15-4 overall and ranked in five of the six national polls, including coming in at No. 20 in the Baseball America Top-25 poll.
• The Chanticleers are coming off a 17-17, eight-inning, tie with ULM on Sunday, March 20, as the game was called due to travel curfew for the Warhawks.
• Overall this season, the Chanticleers are 1-1 in midweek contests with a road loss at UNCW (March 2) and a home win over then-No. 30 Wake Forest (March 8).
• The CCU offense is hitting .281 with 129 runs scored so far this season, including driving in 115 RBIs overall.
• The Chants rank in the top-15 in all of NCAA D1 baseball in sacrifice bunts (eighth) and sacrifice flies (11th), and lead the Sun Belt in on-base percentage at .405 on the season.
• The Coastal pitching staff has posted a 4.34 ERA on the season and fanned 166 batters over 164.0 innings pitched.

• In his first season at CCU, Carney is 1-0 with a 5.21 ERA over five total appearances. He has struck out 27 hitters over 19.0 innings and is coming off striking out 10 batters over 4.1 innings in a win over Xavier (March 13) in game two of the doubleheader.
• Carney will be making his fourth start on the season Tuesday night, as he is 0-0 with a 5.27 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 13.2 innings over his three starts this season.
• Over the Chants' 11 wins, the bullpen is 7-0 with five saves and a 2.89 ERA.
• The bullpen arms have struck out 49 hitters compared to just 26 walks over 46.2 innings of relief and has held the opponents to a .206 batting average.
