Women’s Tennis to Face Arkansas State on Saturday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's team will head out to Jonesboro, Arkansas for a Sun Belt Conference road match against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Saturday, March 26, at 11 a.m. ET.
Entering the weekend, the Chants have an 8-7 record (3-2 SBC), while the host Red Wolves are 4-9 overall (0-3 SBC). The two sides have only met once in SBC play, on March 16, 2017, where the Chants won on the road 4-0.
CCU is coming off of a busy week where the Chants played host to a trio of Sun Belt opponents in Texas State, UT Arlington, and Appalachian State, respectively. The Chanticleers defeated Texas State 5-2 on March 18 and shut out App State 4-0 on March 23.
In those three conference matches, Megan Hopton posted four wins in five contests for CCU, spanning singles and doubles play.
In doubles action, she and teammate Anna Babayan tallied three wins in the third flight, where two of their victories helped decide the doubles point. In those pivotal matches, Hopton and Babayan defeated Sofia Fortuño and Kylee Shannon (TXST) 6-4, and Brooke Gruber and Olwyn Ryan-Bovey (APP), 7-6 (7-4). Hopton also faced Fortuño in the No. 4 singles match & emerged with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
