JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team would split on day one of the North Florida Invitational going 1-1 on Friday by posting a 4-1 win over Nebraska after suffering a 3-2 setback against North Florida to start the tournament.
 
With the split, the Chants moved to 5-1 overall on the season.

The Sandy Chants suffered their first loss of the young season on Friday morning, falling to the host North Florida by a final score of 3-2.
 
The Ospreys, who are receiving votes in the AVCA national poll, would race out to a 2-0 lead in the match by picking up wins on courts No. 4 and No. 5 by the scores of 21-8, 21-12, and 21-18, 22-20.
 
Coastal would get on the board when the No. 3 pair of Natalie Honzovicova and Ellie Hanford defeated North Florida's Leah Maloney and Marisa Rogers 21-12, 21-16.
 
North Florida was able to seal the match at the top flight with a 11-21, 21-15, 17-15 win.
 
Coastal would end the match securing a three-set victory at No. 2 from Sarah Riedell and Madie Lichty, as the pair defeated Carleigh Semeniuk and Lauren Galinis of the Ospreys 15-21, 28-26, 18-16 to put the match's final score at 3-2.
 
Coastal Carolina 4, Nebraska 1  
 
Following their first loss of the season, the Sandy Chants bounced back in the afternoon session to pick up the win over Nebraska by a score of 4-1.
 
The Chants would race out to a 2-0 lead to begin the match, winning on courts No. 4 and No. 5 by the scores of 16-21, 21-18, 15-9, and 21-14, 21-11.
 
The Huskers would get on the board first with a 21-19, 21-13 win at the No. 2 flight, before the Chants secured the match win at the top flight with Irena Drobnjak and Martine Kragholm defeating the Nebraska duo of Kenzie Knuckles and Madi Kubik in straight sets by a similar score of 21-14.
 
With the match won, the No. 3 flight of Hanford and Honzovicova remained perfect on the season by defeating Lexi Rodriguez and Bekka Allick of Nebraska 15-21, 21-13, 15-11 to put the final score at 4-1.
 
The Chants will be back in action tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET on the final day of the North Florida Invitational.
