Men's Golf to End Regular Season at Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team will end the regular season at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by the University of Virginia on April 11-12 at the Birdwood Golf Club.
The Birdwood Golf Club is laid out over 7,058 yards and will score as a par-71. This year's field will consist of 13 teams, including top-50 teams Tennessee (20), Charlotte (26), Liberty (36), and North Florida (39). Kentucky (60), host Virginia (62), and Virginia Tech (69) are also highly ranked programs participating in the tournament.
Other teams joining the Chanticleers in the field are St. Mary's (Calif.), Loyola (Md.), Maryland, Sun Belt member Texas State, and East Carolina.
The event is named after Lewis Chitengwa who was a two-time All-American at Virginia (1995, 1996) and the 1995 ACC Freshman-of-the-Year. He turned professional in 1998 and competed on the Tear Drop, Buy.com and Canadian Tours, as well as in the PGA's St. Jude Memphis Classic. He passed away at the age of 26 because of meningitis.
Head Coach Jim Garren will have a lineup of Tyler Gray, Seth Taylor, Garrett Cooper, Connor Newton, and Trace McDonald.
