COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team closed out the Palmetto Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 loss to the Cougars of College of Charleston in Columbia, S.C.
With the loss, the Chants fell to 17-13 overall on the season.
Charleston raced out to a 3-0 match lead by holding off the Chanticleers' teams on courts No. 4 and No. 5, winning both matches by taking the first and third sets in the three-set wins, and posting a straight-set win on court No. 3.
Refusing to give up, CCU's pair of
Martine Kragholm and
Sarah Riedell picked up a 19-21, 21-13, 15-11 win on court No. 1 to get the Chants on the board with the three-set win.
The Chants closed out the match with a win on court No. 2, as CCU's
Ellie Hanford and
Irena Drobnjak downed the Cougars in three sets at 21-15, 19-21, 15-12 to put the final score at 3-2.
CCU will be back in action next weekend, as the Sandy Chants will host Georgia State for a dual on Saturday, April 23.
