Record-Setting Shooter Winters Set to Join Chants

Coastal Carolina women’s basketball gets an outside shooting threat

CONWAY, S.C. – Shooting guard Carly Winters from Young Harris College will join the Coastal Carolina women's basketball roster for the 2022-23 season, head coach Kevin Pederson announced.

The 5' 7" shooting guard has played three seasons at Young Harris where she became the all-time three-point shooter in the program's history with 185 made three-point field goals. Winters needed just 66 games to set the new benchmark for long-distance shooters for the Mountain Lions.

"We are very excited to see Carly in Teal & Bronze! She gives us a high-level shooter with a lot of game experience and one that possesses a great deal of range," said Pederson. "She is a hard worker with a high basketball IQ. I believe she will be a great addition to our growing Coastal family."

The Gainesville, Ga. native was second on the team in scoring last season, as she averaged 11.8 points with a career-high 28 points against Shorter on Nov. 23, 2021. The long-distance sharpshooter was fifth in the Peach Belt Conference with a .346 three-point field goal shooting percentage and led the league with 2.9 three-pointers made per contest.

Throughout her time at Young Harris College, Winters averaged 11.4 points per game while shooting .367 from three-point range. The shooting guard also grabbed 3.41 rebounds per game while assisting her teammates 113 times
