EUGENE, Ore. – The Coastal Carolina women's outdoor track & field team wrapped up its record-setting 2022 season with six Chanticleers earning All-American honors, highlighted by Melissa Jefferson garnering All-American accolades in three events on the final day of the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Eugene, Ore.

Competing in the finals of three events on Saturday, Jefferson picked up first-team All-American recognition with an eighth-place finish in the 100-meters with a time of 11.24. She capped her record-setting season with second-team All-American honors in the 200-meters, crossing the finish line in ninth place overall with a time of 22.90.

On top of her two individual All-American honors, Jefferson also picked up first-team All-American accolades as part of the 4x100-meter relay unit that finished eighth in the finals heat with a time of 43.78. The Chanticleers' team of Kayla Sweeney, Shani'a Bellamy, Jermaisha Arnold, and Jefferson finished ahead of South Carolina in the nine-team race with their third-best time on the season to earn first-team accolades.

Also earning All-American honors at the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week were Arnold with second-team honors in the 400-meters, while Bellamy garnered honorable mention accolades in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles event. Also picking up honorable mention All-American honors at the championships were freshmen Mekenze Kelley in the 400-meters and Alexis Glasco in the 100-meter hurdles.

Entering the 2022 outdoor track & field season, the Coastal Carolina women's track & field program had nine individuals with outdoor track & field All-American recognition in the program's history, including second-team honors for Jefferson last year in 2021. Now the Chanticleers have a total of 14 outdoor track & field individual All-Americans headlined by multiple-year honors from Jefferson (2001 and 2022) and Amber Campbell (2001 and 2003).
