CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina volleyball head coach
Jozsef Forman is excited to announce the 2022 fall schedule, which includes four weekend tournaments and 16 Sun Belt Conference matches.
The Chanticleers will be nomads in 2022, as 20 of their slated 29 regular-season matches will come on the road, away from the HTC Center and Conway, S.C.
Coastal will open up play just north at familiar regional foe UNC Wilmington, as the Chanticleers will compete at the UNCW Seahawk Classic on Aug. 26-27. At the two-day event, the Chants will face off with Davidson (3 p.m. ET) on Friday, Aug. 26, before playing both Virginia Tech (Noon ET) and the host Seahawks (6 p.m. ET) on Saturday, Aug. 27.
The Chanticleers will remain on the road and head west to complete in a weekend tournament hosted by TCU on Sept. 2-3 in Fort Worth, Texas. There, CCU will take on Texas A&M (11 a.m. ET) and host TCU (8 p.m. ET) on Friday, and then wrap up the weekend versus Memphis (2:30 p.m. ET) on Saturday afternoon.
The following weekend, Sept. 9-10, the Chants will again be on the road, as Coach Forman's squad will remain in the Palmetto State to do battle at the CofC Classic hosted by the College of Charleston. CCU will take on in-state foe Wofford (4:30 p.m. ET) on Friday, Sept. 9, and then play two matches on Saturday, Sept. 10, versus Incarnate Word (10 a.m. ET) and host Charleston (7 p.m. ET).
Coastal will finally host its first home match of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 13, as the Chants will host a return match with the College of Charleston (6 p.m. ET) inside the HTC Center before returning to the road and tournament play on Sept. 16-17 at national powerhouse Penn State.
At the Penn State Tournament, the Chants will face off with Howard (11 a.m. ET) and Albany (3 p.m. ET) on Friday, Sept. 16, and then will take on the Nittany Lions (7 p.m. ET) in the nightcap on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Chanticleers will then open up Sun Belt Conference play at home on Sept. 23-24 with back-to-back matches versus the Georgia State Panthers. Friday night's contest is slated for 6 p.m. ET, while Saturday's game will start at 1 p.m. ET.
After conference road bouts at Appalachian State (6 p.m. ET) on Sept. 29-30, the Chanticleers will welcome Georgia Southern back to the HTC Center on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8. Friday night's contest is slated for 6 p.m. ET, while Saturday's game will start at 1 p.m. ET.
The next four matches will come on the road against new Sun Belt Conference members in Old Dominion and James Madison. CCU will travel to Norfolk, Va., to battle the Monarchs on Oct. 14-15 before heading to James Madison on Oct. 20-21.
The run of matches versus the new Sun Belt Conference foes will continue with a two-match home series with Marshall on Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29, with matches slated for 6 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET, respectively, before wrapping up the regular-season road slate at South Alabama on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5.
After taking on the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Champions in Mobile, Ala., the Chants will return home to host the 2021 Sun Belt Conference West Division Champions in Texas State on Nov. 10-11. The two matches are slated for 6 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET, respectively.
The 2022 Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championships will once again be held at the Foley Sports Tourism Complex in Foley, Ala., and will take place on Nov. 16-20.
