The Chanticleers faced No. 15 preseason nationally-ranked Wake Forest in an exhibition in Conway earlier this month with the two teams playing to a 1-1 draw.
Following halftime,
Noe Santos sent in a corner kick into the box that teammate
Mael Couteau headed into the back of the net to put the Chants up 1-0 in the 47th minute. However, just seven minutes later, Wake Forest's Leo Guarino evened the score at 1-1.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
- After finishing the 2021 season 4-9-3 overall and 2-4-2 in conference play, the Spartans were picked to finish sixth in the Big South, receiving 39 points.
- USC Upstate returns just one of its three players to be named all-conference a year ago. Redshirt senior Filippo Censini returns for the Spartans after being named second-team All-Big South a year ago.
- The Chants and Spartans have four familiar opponents on their schedule this fall as both teams will face off against South Carolina, Georgia State, Campbell, and Furman.
