Chanticleers Face William & Mary Sunday on the Road

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET

CONWAY, S.C – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer program will hit the road for the first time this season as the Chanticleers head north to face William & Mary on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. ET, in Williamsburg, Va.

The Chants enter the contest at 1-0-0 overall, while the Tribe sits at 0-0-2 overall on the season.

Coastal picked up program win number 500 in a 4-1 victory over USC Upstate on Thursday night at the CCU Soccer Stadium. All four of the Chants' goals came from underclassmen, three of which saw their first career minutes in Teal.

Maurice Hauser connected on a pass from Noe Santos just 15 seconds into the match to give the Chants an early 1-0 lead. Santos joined the scoring party for the Men in Teal, as the sophomore headed in a cross from Eybor Kjartansson in the 20th minute before Alvaro Garcia-Pascual connected on a pass from Danny Cabrera just before halftime to put the Chants up 3-0 heading into the break.

In his first minutes as a Chanticleer, freshman Christian Cook notched his first career goal on a long ball from Joey Batrouni, as Cook beat the Spartans goalkeeper to find the corner of the net and give the Chants a 4-0 advantage in the 72nd minute.

USC Upstate's lone goal came via Aundrin Zumbul after he beat a diving Iu Pentinat on a pass from teammate Felipe Marty.

SCOUTING THE TRIBE
  • After finishing the 2021 season 7-7-0 overall and 4-4-0 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play, William & Mary was picked to finish sixth by a vote of the league coaches.
  • Seniors Alexander Levengood and Diba Nwegbo were named to the 2022 CAA Preseason All-Conference Team earlier this month. Nwegbo earned All-CAA Second Team honors last season following his four-goal and four assists season.
  • In William & Mary's season opener against Georgetown on Thursday night, Nwegbo tallied his first career brace to help the Tribe rally from a goal deficit and forge a 2-2 draw.
