Coastal’s Fray-Samuel Represents Chants at Canadian Track & Field Championships

CONWAY, S.C. – While Melissa Jefferson and Mekenze Kelley were representing Coastal Carolina track & field at the U.S. National Championship Meet this summer, rising sophomore Zayna Fray-Samuel was representing the Teal and Bronze in Canada.
Competing in the U20-SR 2022 Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships in June, the Toronto, Ontario, Canada native, finished second overall in the women's hammer throw (U20) with a mark of 52.01 meters on her fifth attempt.
Her mark of 52.01 meters just missed the standard of 57.00 meters to qualify for team Canada and compete at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Fray-Samuel took one more attempt to make the U20 Canada Team but narrowly missed out, throwing a new personal-best mark of 55.24 meters to take first place overall in the women's hammer throw at the York University Twilight #5 meet in July.
