Cross Country Men & Women’s Teams Picked Sixth in SBC Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The Coastal Carolina University men's and women's cross country teams were both picked to finish sixth overall in the 2022 Sun Belt Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced on Wednesday.
On the men's side, Coastal received 37 points to place sixth overall behind both Texas State and Marshall, who tied for fourth with 41 points.
App State was picked to finish first overall with a total of 76 points. The Mountaineers garnered five first-place votes and placed ahead of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Champions in Arkansas State, who picked up 74 points and three first-place votes. South Alabama was picked to finish third with 63 points and one first-place vote.
On the women's side, the Chants came in at sixth with 102 points, placing ahead of ULM (86), Marshall (79), Troy (60), Texas State (58), Louisiana (56), Georgia State (50), and Georgia Southern (40).
Arkansas State, the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Champions, was selected to repeat as the Red Wolves picked up 11 first-place votes and 167 total points.
Following A-State in the women's poll were App State (152 points), Southern Miss (115), James Madison (110), and South Alabama (108 points), all ahead of the Chants.
Coastal will open up the 2022 fall slate at the USC – Carolina Challenge in Camden, S.C. on Saturday, Sept. 3.
