Cross Country to Compete at the Firetower Project Run on Friday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina cross country teams will return to action this week to compete at the Firetower Project Run on Friday, Sept. 16, hosted by Appalachian State at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm in Boone, N.C.
The women's 5k event will start at 4 p.m. ET with the men's 8k race to follow at 4:45 p.m. ET.
The field for the meet includes App State, Montreat College, UNCG, Charlotte, College of Charleston, USC Upstate, King College, and CCU.
Running for the Chanticleers on the women's side will be Molly Jones, Amilia Wise-Sweat, Ashley Rulison, Ellie Wolski, Kylee Denver, Taylor Houston, Tiarra Smith, and Ella Lehmann.
Six of the eight Chants competed two weeks ago at the Carolina Challenge hosted by South Carolina, while both Wise-Sweat and Lehmann will make their debuts this Friday.
Jones paced the Chants at the Carolina Challenge with a first-place finish and a time of 18:22.76 to help lead the Chanticleers to a third-place team finish. Her time was almost a full 30 seconds faster than the runner-up finisher. Wolski added a seventh-place finish with her time of 19:42.51, while placing 12th overall was Rulison with a time of 20:24.41.
For the men's race, the Chants will send Tomas Duncan, Ethan Blackwelder, Trey Kraimer, Hunter White, Camren Stamp, and Jack Benoit to compete for the Teal and Bronze.
All but Benoit raced in the season-opening event two weeks ago at the Carolina Challenge, as Duncan paced the men's team with his third-place time of 16:56.24, while Kraimer recorded a time of 17:04.97 in his first race as a Chant to finish eighth overall.
