Cary, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team wrapped play in its penultimate tournament of the fall season today at the ITA Carolina Regionals in Cary, N.C.
Yesterday, the Chants recorded three singles victories and two doubles to advance to the round of 32 in both the main and consolation draws of each bracket.
Today, seniors Ryuya Ata, Jesus Garcia and Guilherme Toresan featured in CCU's final matches of day three and of this year's tournament. After besting Citadel Military College's Hayden Shoemake in yesterday's opening round, Ata defeated UNC Charlotte's Lance Cochrane in a straight set victory by a score of 7-5, 7-6 (7). Toresan defeated Wofford's Alex Horn, also in a straight set win of 6-2, 6-1, while Garcia ultimately fell to Gardner-Webb's John Spring in three sets.
CCU will close out the regular season fall schedule next weekend with a trip to Wilmington, N.C. for the UNCW Hidden Duals event on Oct. 27-29.
The ITA Carolina Regionals from Cary, N.C. will continue tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. ET.
