Men’s Soccer Closes Regular Season Versus Georgia State

CONWAY, S.C. –  The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team will close its regular season versus the Georgia State Panthers at the CCU Soccer Stadium on Tuesday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk
  • This is Coastal's last match of the regular season, and the Chanticleers require a win to keep their hopes of making the Sun Belt Conference tournament alive.
  • CCU has a 3-8-3, 1-5-2 Sun Belt record this year.
  • The Chants matched their season-high three goals versus USC on Friday. The last time CCU tallied three was in its 3-2 victory over No. 12 JMU on Sept. 23.

Last Time Out
  • Coastal suffered a 4-3 defeat to USC on Friday night after a last-minute winner from the Gamecocks destroyed CCU's hopes of a tie.
  • The Chants conceded the first goal in the 10th minute when a clearance attempt from Robert Valdimarsson found the back of his own net to give USC a 1-0 lead.
  • Junior Noe Santos tied the match in the 23rd minute off assists from Hainer and Eythor Kjartansson to make the score 1-1.
  • USC regained the lead in the 57th minute when Jordan Illian headed the ball into the far post to put the Gamecocks up 2-1.
  • South Carolina extended its lead to 3-1 in the 72nd minute but CCU answered back with a goal from Deryn Armstrong less than 30 seconds later to narrow the gap to 3-2.
  • Kjartansson looked like he was going to be Coastal's hero in the 87th minute when he belted a free kick into the top left corner to level the score at 3-3.
  • It was not meant to be for the Chants. With 34 seconds left on the clock, USC's Illian chipped in his second goal of the match to give the Gamecocks a 4-3 victory.
