Chants Continue Season Opening Road Trip at South Carolina State

Coastal Carolina’s offense is led by Richardson and Carter

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will battle the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Orangeburg, S.C. The opening tip is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Chanticleers fell 88-42 to the Duke Blue Devils last Thursday. Coastal's Deaja Richardson led the Chants' offense with 12 points with freshman guard Dalanna Carter and Makaila Cange adding nine points each. Freshman Alancia Ramsey grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as Carter added five boards.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
The game will be the 26th meeting between the two teams on the hardwood. This will be the 11th time that the Chants will travel to Orangeburg.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
Coastal Carolina is averaging 47.5 points per game while shooting 28.4 percent from the field and 20.0 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Coastal allowed 85.5 points per game, while opponents have a 49.3 shooting percentage from the floor and 36.8 percentage from behind the three-point arc. The Chanticleers have remained even with their opponents in the rebound battle, 80-80.
 
Coastal is paced by Richardson and Carter who average 13.5 and 9.0 points per game, respectively. Cange has averaged 7.5 points per contest and is second on the team with eight rebounds. Ramsey is the top rebounder, having grabbed 21 with 10 coming on the defensive end of the court.
 
ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
The Bulldogs are averaging 39.0 points per contest while shooting 29.7 percent from the floor and 22.7 percent from three-point range. As a team, SC State has lost the rebound battle 104-59.
 
Taniya McGowan leads the Bulldog offense with 8.0 points per game, while Cassandra Colon is averaging 6.0 points per contest. Morgan Beacham is the team's leader in assists with three, while Jhaven Meade and Rakyha Reid are the top rebounders having grabbed eight boards apiece.
