CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will return to the road for a matchup with the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in Jacksonville, Ala., on Sunday, Dec. 17. The opening tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be streamed on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
The Chanticleers got back in the win column as they defeated UNC Pembroke 73-49 to snap a three-game skid and the fifth consecutive win over the Gamecocks.
Deaja Richardson and
Makaila Cange led Coastal with 28 and 16 points, respectively, while
Arin Freeman added nine points. Cange was the Chants top rebounder having grabbed 10 boards for a double-double.
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND JACKSONVILLE STATE
Coastal Carolina and the Gamecocks will be meeting for the fifth time dating back to December 1997. The all-time series is even at 2-2 with the Chanticleers looking for their third consecutive win over Jax State.

The Gamecocks enter the weekend with a 3-6 overall record and are on a two-game losing streak. As a team, Jacksonville State is averaging 62.6 points per contest while shooting 37.1 percent from the floor and 29.2 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Jax State has allowed 65.7 points per contest and its opponents to shoot 40.2 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from behind the arch. The Gamecocks have lost the rebound battle 346-259.
Kristol Ayson is the team's leading scorer with 9.1 points per game while Bre'Anna Rhodes (8.1) is scoring just over eight points per contest. Jacksonville State's top rebounder is Mya Barnes with 5.3 boards per game with Keiara Griffin having grabbed 5.0 rebounds per game.
