CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball program will play at the College of Charleston on Monday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. ET.
After opening the 2023-24 season with nine consecutive home games, this will be the Chanticleers first road game of the season.
THE SERIES
These two programs have played 52 times with the Cougars holding a 41-11 lead in the series. The teams have already met once this season with the College of Charleston picking up an 80-72 win back on Nov. 19 in the Myrtle Beach Invitational.
CofC has won the last four times they have played with the Chants last win in the series coming back in 2015, a 67-61 win in Charleston.
ABOUT THE CHANTS
CCU enters the game with a 3-6 record. CCU is averaging 80.4 points per game and has four players averaging double figures in scoring led by
Kylan Blackmon's 13.7 points per game. His 22 three-point field goals leads the team and his 13 steals are second.
Freshman
Jacob Meyer averages 13.6 points per game. His 44.1 shooting percentage on his three-point field goals leads the team and he also leads the Chants in assists with 27 and in steals with 14.
John Ojiako is averaging 12.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. He is tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead with five double-doubles and is ranked first in the conference in rebounds (89), field goal percentage (67.1), offensive rebounds per game (4.00) and rebounds per game (9.9).
Nationally, Ojiako is eighth in offensive rebounds per game, ninth in double-doubles, 20th in rebounds per game and 39th in total rebounds.
Kevin Easley is averaging 10.9 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field.
ABOUT COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
The Cougars enter today's game with a 6-4 record. They have won back-to-back games and five of its last six outings.
CofC has three double-digit scorers. Ben Burnham leads the Cougars in scoring averaging 12.8 points per game, and is also the team-leader in steals with 13. Reyne Smith, who scored 24 points against the Chants in the team's earlier meeting at the Myrtle Beach Invitational, is averaging 11.2 points per game, and is the team's top three-point threat. He has 28 on the season and is shooting 41 percent on his three-point attempts and 80 percent at the free throw line.
Ante Brzovic averages 10.5 points per game and leads the team in rebounds averaging 6.2 per game, while CJ Fulton has a team-best 40 assists.
