CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will face Arkansas State to open play in the 2023 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Championship, Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla.
The Chants (11-19) open play in the tournament as the 12th seed, while the Red Wolves (12-19) will enter tourney action as the 13th seed.
LAST TIME OUT
CCU ended the regular season on the road at Troy, with the Trojans scoring an 85-74 home win. Troy was able to stroke its' win by knocking down 17 three-point field goals.
Antonio Daye scored a career-high 28 points, which was the third time in the CCU's last four games he has reached 20 or more points.
Jimmy Nichols scored 15 points and
Jomaru Brown came off the bench to score 12 points.
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND ARKANSAS STATE
This series started back in 1987 and the Chants have a slim 6-5 lead in the series. It will be the second time CCU and Arkansas State will meet on a neutral court, as the series began with a neutral site game when the Red Wolves defeated CCU 62-52 at the Arkansas-Little Rock Tournament played in Little Rock, Ark.
Arkansas State defeated CCU 73-57 earlier this season on Feb. 4 in Jonesboro, Ark.

The Chants come into the game looking to halt a three-game losing streak.
Josh Uduje leads the team in scoring averaging 13.3 points per game.
Jomaru Brown (12.7),
Antonio Daye (12.4), and
Essam Mostafa (12.3) are also averaging in double digits.
ABOUT ARKANSAS STATE
Arkansas State heads into the tournament 2-4 in its last six games. Caleb Fields and El Sheikh lead A-State in scoring, each averaging 11.5 points per game, while Terrance Ford is averaging 10.3 points per game.
