CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team will host the Marist Red Fox on Friday, March 17, at Brooks Stadium on the campus of Coastal Carolina University. The opening draw is scheduled for noon ET in Conway, S.C.
Coastal enters the contest at 4-3 overall after falling to the Harvard Crimson 12-10 to snap the Chanticleers' three-game winning streak last Tuesday, while the Red Fox enter play at 2-5 on the year.

Kayla Downey was tabbed the ASUN Player of the Week for her performance versus the Boston Terriers and the Iona Gaels last week. The Babylon, N.Y., native tallied back-to-back hat tricks in leading the Chants to a pair of victories. She combined for 11 points (8 goals, 3 assists) and posted a 84.6 shots on goal percentage.

The Chanticleers and Marist will be meeting for the first time. The Red Fox are the fourth of six opponents the Chants will face for the first time this season.
ABOUT COASTAL
The CCU offense is led by Downey (20 goals, 12 assists) with 32 points, while
Avery McIlwaine (16 goals, 5 assists),
Hope Steuerwald (15 goals), and
Avery Snyder (4 goals, 11 assists) are close behind with 21, 15, and 15 points, respectively. The offense has been ignited by
Devin Rybacki and McIlwaine, as the duo has won 24 and 20 draw controls each.
Defensively, the Chants are anchored by their starting goalkeeper
Claire Martell, who has started all seven contests. The redshirt junior goalie has stopped 58 shots and allowed 48 goals in almost 340 minutes in the cage on the season.
Claudia Kelly has forced nine turnovers, while Martell has grabbed 15 groundballs to help return possession back to the offense.

Marist is led by Kelly Trotta (22 goals, 12 assists) and Kerri Gutenberger (24 goals, 4 assists) with 34 and 28 points, respectively. Delaney Hayes (8 goals, 1 assist), Maddie Schrader (4 goals, 3 assists), and Oliva Arntsen (3 goals, 4 assists) have chipped in with nine, seven, and seven points each. Caitlin McNaboe often gets the offense started by winning 26 draw controls for the Red Fox to lead the team.
Defensively, Marist goalie Miranda Lopes has started in all seven contests having allowed 99 goals and made 70 saves in the 220 shots faced. Trotta leads the team with 11 caused turnovers, while scooping up a team-high 16 groundballs.
