CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's and women's soccer programs are once again using its time in the offseason to give back to the Myrtle Beach Community as the teams continue to work with the Miracle League Soccer here in the Grand Strand.
 
Miracle League aims to offer sports programs to Special Needs kids around the globe. The local program was formed in collaboration with the Horry County Recreation Department and Coastal Carolina soccer programs in the fall of 2011. After a year off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in the spring of 2021, the program is back in its second year and has picked back up where it left off. The teams have always looked forward to spending time with the participants each week.
 
At each training session, players and coaches from both the Coastal Carolina men's and women's soccer programs provide instruction on basic soccer skills and work one-on-one with Miracle League Soccer players. For one hour, players move through various skill stations. The evening usually ends with a scrimmage or a friendly game of kickball. Emphasis is on fun, fitness, and friendship.
 
"This is something our student-athletes and coaches look forward to each spring," said CCU men's soccer assistant coach Chris Fidler. "We get so much enjoyment from working and playing with the kids because it allows our guys to be kids as well. We get to teach them how to play a sport that we love and take for granted every day. It is a great honor to give back to the community, specifically the Miracle League."
 
The Chants kicked off its work with the Miracle League Soccer at James C. Benton Miracle League field on March 15 and will return to the complex on March 29, April 5, April 12, and April 19.
