Coastal Softball Heads South to Face Georgia State

Chants to play three games in three days

 CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team (24-7) will remain on the road as the Chanticleers head down to Atlanta, Ga., for its second three-game conference series of the season. The series will take place on March 24-26.
 
LOOKIN' BACK
  • The Chants fell to 24-7 on the season after losing to Charleston Southern 2-1 in Charleston, S.C., on Tuesday.
  • Raelee Brabham set a career-high with 14 strikeouts but picked up the loss after allowing two runs in 6.0 innings of work versus CSU.
  • Diamond Williams helped the Chants get off to an early lead against the Bucs after hitting her seventh home run of the season on the second pitch of the game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • Georgia State is 10-16 overall on the season and 0-3 in conference play.
  • The Chants will be looking to add to the Panthers' current three-game losing streak.
  • The Panthers lost their conference three-game series opener to South Alabama 3-0, which included a shutout in six innings, as well as a narrow 4-3 defeat.
  • Georgia State has played five fewer games than the Chanticleers but has logged 20 more stolen bases, ranking them third in the Sun Belt.
  • GSU has a batting average of .246, which places them last in the conference.
  • The Panthers have two starting pitchers, Ellie Doolittle and Hallie Adams, who have each put in 52 innings of work in the circle. Doolittle has posted a 4.55 ERA with 29 strikeouts, while Adams has a 4.71 ERA and 41 strikeouts.
  • Senior Bailee Richardson leads the team with a .329 batting average and is fifth in the conference with a .671 slugging percentage and sixth with six home runs hit on the season so far.
HISTORY AGAINST
  • CCU has a 10-8 overall record versus Georgia State.
  • Coastal has won its previous three matchups against the Panthers during a three-game series at St. John Stadium in 2022.
  • CCU outscored and outhit the Panthers 23-14 and 27-20, respectively, during its last three-game series in April 2022. 
  • Head coach Kelley Green has a 5-2 record versus Georgia State.
  • Riley Zana hit a grand slam to help the Chants secure an 8-2 victory in their last contest.
  • The Chants have won eight out of their last 10 games against the Panthers.
  • Their first encounter was back in 1990, but they didn't meet again till 2014.
