CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina Sandy Chants picked up two wins on Wednesday, as CCU defeated UNCW (3-2) and Erskine (5-0) at the Coastal Carolina Beach Volleyball Complex on the campus of Coastal Carolina.
 
Coastal Carolina improved to 12-6 overall on the season, with their sixth and seventh consecutive win. After going 1-1 on the day, the Seahawks move to 6-5 on the year, while the Flying Fleet falls to 2-12 with a pair of losses.
 
Match 1: Coastal Carolina 3, UNCW 2
The Chants fell behind early in the match as the team of Emma Gonzalez and Lucy Campbell fell short at 21-18, 22-20 to Jadyn Barry and Kaley McLaughlin on court No. 5.
 
Coastal Carolina pulled even on court No. 4, as the tandem of Raychel Ehlers and Madison Allred (21-18, 24-22) defeated Ashley Thompson and Bri Haggerty, while the duo of Sarlota Svobodova and Madie Lichty dispatched Maddy Folks and Sarah Thompson 21-14, 21-8 on court No. 3 to give the Chants a 2-1 advantage.
 
Meanwhile, the Chanticleers' Sarah Riedell and Martine Kragholm dropped a 24-22, 23-21 battle with Gabby LaPata and Sadie Sharkey to even the match at 2-2 on court No. 1.
 
On court No. 2, however, the team of Elena Sanchez and Ellie Hanford (24-22, 23-25, 15-13) needed all three sets versus Ellie Bucci and Lyvia Trimp to stake the Sandy Chants to a 3-2 win.
 
Match 2: Coastal Carolina 5, Erskine 0
In their second match of the day, the Sandy Chants jumped to the early 1-0 lead, as Ehlers and Allred won big over Maisy Garner and Kayley Preston 21-10, 21-16 in straight sets on court No. 4.
 
Coastal claimed control of the match to lead 2-0, as Campbell and Gonzalez handled Allison Carter and M.J. Cackett 21-12, 21-18 in straight sets over on court No. 5. The Sandy Chants clinched the match on court No. 3, as Svobodova and Lichty finished the day with a 21-8, 21-6 win over Sam Bebber and Laney Gaston.
 
On court No. 2, the tandem Hanford and Sanchez won in identical sets of 21-13, 21-13 over Alyssa Pagan and Allison Dutterer to increase the Chants' lead to 4-0, while Coastal's Kragholm and Riedell completed the sweep with a 21-23, 21-10, 16-14 three-set win on court No. 1 for the 5-0 win.
 
The Sandy Chants return to the court on Friday, March 24, as Coastal Carolina will travel to Deland, Fla., for the Stetson Beach Bash. The Chanticleers will face host Stetson, Florida Atlantic, North Alabama, and Florida Gulf Coast.
