HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The No. 3 Coastal Carolina women's beach volleyball team fell to the No. 1 seed and nationally-ranked Georgia State 5-0 in the semifinal round of the 2023 Sun Belt Women's Beach Volleyball Championship on Friday afternoon, dropping into the contender's bracket in Huntsville, Ala.
With the loss, Coastal Carolina dropped to 24-12 overall on the season.

The Sandy Chants fell behind early in their semifinal match to the No. 14 Panthers, as the team of
Sarlota Svobodova and
Madie Lichty suffered a 21-16, 21-9 loss to Yasmin Kuck and Lila Bordis on court No. 2 to trail 1-0.
The top-seeded Panthers increased their lead to 2-0 on court No. 4 with Maddy Delmonte and Ayla Johnson knocking off the Coastal tandem of
Emma Gonzalez and
Elena Sanchez 21-16, 21-16 on court No. 2.
Georgia State clinched the match at 3-0 with Kelly Dorn and Elise Saga winning 21-16, 21-12 in straight sets over the Chants'
Raychel Ehlers and
Madison Allred on court No. 3.
CCU's
Sarah Riedell and
Martine Kragholm were defeated 21-19, 21-13 in straight sets by the 2023 Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Pair of the Year in Angel Ferary and Bella Ferary on court No. 1 to put the Chants down 4-0 in the match.
However, the Panthers completed the 5-0 sweep as Destiny White and Aliisa Vuroinen won 21-19, 21-18 over Coastal's
Ellie Hanford and
Emma Kunaus on court No. 5.
The Sandy Chants will return to action to face the winner of the No. 6 seed Southern Miss and No. 2 seed Charleston matchup at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday morning.
