CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina University head men's golf coach
Jacob Wilner has announced the addition of four signees to the 2023-24 men's golf roster in Jack Lee (Sidcup, Ky./Wilmington Academy), Brady Duval (Englewood, Colo./Montverde Academy), Ludvig Eriksson (Stockholm, Sweden/Ole Miss), and Carlos Garre (Molina de Segura, Spain/Francis Marion).
"When we started this recruiting class last June, we had three areas of focus," Wilner said. "Maturity, the ability to win events, and speed. I feel we got all of them with Jack, Carlos, Brady, and Ludvig. We are excited to get all 10 players on campus in mid-August and get to work."
Jack Lee: Sidcup, Kent. (Wilmington Academy)
Lee was a top-ranked U16 golfer in England, where he was ranked in the top 10 during the 2020-21 season according to the European Golf Rankings. In the England Schools vs. Wales Schools Matchplay, his foursome was victorious at 8&7, while in singles play he won 9&8. Lee was selected for the England National Boys' team for the 2022-23 season and proceeded to shoot the lowest score at -10 (62). He is a back-to-back Peter McEvoy trophy winner in 2022 and 2023 and has recorded three holes-in-one with two of those in competitions, including one at the English U18 championship in 2022.
Coach Wilner on Lee:
"Jack is a complete player, and his maturity is so impressive. He has the tools to be a very successful college player. We are excited about Jack wearing teal come mid-August."
Brady Duval: Englewood, Colo. (Montverde Academy)
Duval is the son of PGA Tour member David Duval and is coming off a senior season in which he picked up championships at the Spring Series #3 at Bishops Gate with a two-over 146 (78-68) and another first-place finish at the Elite Series #1 with a six-under 207 (68-65-74). He also recorded a second-place finish at the Elite Series #2 with a five-under 208 (64-71-73). Duval finished first at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Amundi Evian Senior Showcase in December of 2022 with an 11-under 133 (67-66). He is a member of the International Junior Golf Tour where he has a 70.1 scoring average and has recorded an average of 5.50 birdies per round.
Coach Wilner on Duval:
"Brady had a great senior season and really found his stride as a player. He is very technically sound and hits it really hard. It's going to be fun to watch him grow as a player over the next four years."
Ludvig Eriksson: Stockholm, Sweden (Ole, Miss/Celsius National School of Golf)
Ludvig is transferring to CCU after playing two years at Ole Miss where he competed in three events with a 72.92 scoring average. He was named to the SEC Community Service Team (2022-23) and was a member of the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll (2021-22). Originally from Sweden, he had a scoring average of 71.8 across all tournaments he played in during the 2022 season. He has been ranked in the top-5 in Sweden in his age group from 2014-22 and was ranked No. 1 during the 2017-18 season. Ludvig represented Sweden in the European Boys team championship and was also a member of the World Junior Boys team championship and the Youth Olympic Games. He has reached as high as No. 400 on the WAGR as a junior and has six wins in amateur/junior events in Europe.
Coach Wilner on Eriksson:
"Ludvig is a very experienced player that has competed all over the world. He has won big events and I feel like it's time for him to shine at Coastal for the next two years."
Carlos Garre: Myrtle Beach, S.C./
Molina de Segura, Spain (Frances Marion/Wofford)
Carlos is transferring to CCU after playing two years at Francis Marion following two years at Wofford College. He played in five tournaments with the Patriots during the 2020-21 season and was fourth on the team with a 74.47 stroke average. He placed 14th at the Southland Conference Championship (75-79-73=227). Prior to transferring to FMU, he registered a 74.4 stroke average during his two seasons at Wofford while playing in three events. He finished tied for sixth at the 2019 USC Upstate Carolina one-day event (+1, 73) and tied for 51st at the 2020 Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate (+4, 74-69-77=220) and finished 39th at the Fall 2020 Bash in the 'Boro (+12, 77-72-79=228). A native of Spain, Simon played at North Myrtle Beach Christian Academy and was the SCISA 1A Men's Individual State Champion his senior year, earning SCISA 1A All-State honors.
Coach Wilner on Garre:
"Carlos has a true love for Coastal and he is excited to use his fifth year and play for the Chants. He brings with him lots of experience and a big personality."
