Carleigh Frilles is set to compete for the Philippines in the 2023 Women's World Cup, which will take place July 20 through August 20 in Sydney, Australia.
Frilles was a pivotal player in the 2020 and 2021 Chanticleer lineup, playing in 32 matches while earning 27 starts during her two-year tenure at CCU. The midfielder logged 1,922 minutes of playing time, recording two goals and one assist while wearing teal and bronze.
The Philippines will compete in Group A versus Switzerland, New Zealand, and Norway. The Philippines fell in its first match against Switzerland 2-0 on Friday and are scheduled to play against New Zealand on Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. ET.
To advance to the knockout stages, the Philippines will need to finish first or second in its group. The winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group C, while the runner-up of Group A will play the winner of Group C.
