CONWAY, S.C. – Former Coastal Carolina Chanticleer Carleigh Frilles is set to compete for the Philippines in the 2023 Women's World Cup, which will take place July 20 through August 20 in Sydney, Australia.
 
Frilles was a pivotal player in the 2020 and 2021 Chanticleer lineup, playing in 32 matches while earning 27 starts during her two-year tenure at CCU. The midfielder logged 1,922 minutes of playing time, recording two goals and one assist while wearing teal and bronze.
 
The Philippines will compete in Group A versus Switzerland, New Zealand, and Norway. The Philippines fell in its first match against Switzerland 2-0 on Friday and are scheduled to play against New Zealand on Tuesday at 1:30 a.m. ET. 
 
To advance to the knockout stages, the Philippines will need to finish first or second in its group. The winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group C, while the runner-up of Group A will play the winner of Group C.
