Whitten to Add Demis to Coaching Staff

Volunteer assistant promoted to full-time position

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse head coach Rachel Shuck Whitten has announced the promotion of Hannah Demis to a full-time assistant coach after serving as a volunteer assistant coach since September 2022.

Demis will work primarily with the attack and help with the offensive side of the field. As a volunteer assistant, the Roswell, Ga., native worked with the ASUN's and team's leading scorer in Kayla Downey, who tallied 98 points on 56 goals and 42 assists. Demis helped coach Downey to the 2023 ASUN Player of the Year and Avery McIlwaine the 2023 ASUN Midfielder of the Year. McIlwaine finished second on the team with 54 points with 35 goals and 19 assists.

"I am extremely excited to announce the promotion of Hannah to our full-time coaching staff," said Whitten. "I have had the honor of coaching her for five years (four at Furman, one at Coastal), and she worked with us this past year as a volunteer on staff. There is no doubt in my mind Hannah is dedicated to Coastal Carolina and shares the same vision I have for where this program can go. Each year I have watched her grow in her lacrosse career on and off the field, and I am looking forward to having her full-time. Her energy, work ethic, and drive are going to keep us moving in the right direction."
