Women’s Soccer Completes Homestand Versus NDSU

CONWAY, S.C.- The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will complete its four-match homestand versus the North Dakota State Bison at the CCU Soccer Stadium on Thursday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
 
Chant Talk
  • This is Coastal's last home match before it hits the road for two away contests versus South Carolina (Sept. 3) and UNC Greensboro (Sept. 10).
  • The Chants have posted a 2-1 record at home and will be looking to improve on their 2-0 record under the lights at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
  • Emily Petring leads the team with two goals on the season. The freshman also places second on the team with five shots just behind Julia Ziegenfuss' six.
  • Senior Taylor Tolson is a very experienced player for the Chants and has helped the team keep two clean sheets from the backline during her team-leading 261 minutes of playing time.
  • This will be the first matchup in program history between the Chants and the Bison. 
Last Time Out
  • The Chants picked up their second win of the season versus the College of Charleston Cougars on Sunday evening at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
  • It was an even matchup versus CofC in the opening half with each team recording three shots while the Chants led 3-1 in corner kicks.
  • CCU netted its first goal versus the Cougar when transfer graduate student Natalie Yoo buried the ball into the back of the net from the penalty spot to give the Chants a 1-0 lead.
  • Freshman Petring bagged the second goal of the night as she slotted the ball past the CofC keeper off an assist from Tamlyn Parkes to put the Chants up 2-0.
  • CCU keeper Vivienne Carr picked up her second win of the season while making a career-high seven saves versus the Cougars.
Scouting the Opponent
  • The Bison have posted a 1-2-1 record on the season.
  • NDSU's lone win came against Austin Peay on Aug. 25 when it beat the Governors 4-1.
  • The Bison have many attacking threats on the side with six different players each recording a goal on the season.
  • Abby Wilkinson will be the starting keeper for the Bison, and she has recorded 15 saves while posting a 1.75 GAA.
  • The Bison suffered a 2-0 shutout to the Drake Bulldogs last time out on Aug. 27.
