CONWAY, S.C. –  The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team will take on the USC Upstate Spartans at the CCU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 1.

Scouting the Opponent

• The Spartans have a 1-1 record on the season.
• USC Upstate won its opening match versus the University of North Florida in a 1-0 shut out but suffered a shut out of its own versus North Carolina State University 3-0.
• Freshman Adrian Panaite scored the Spartans' lone goal on the season.
• USC Upstate has taken 15 shots on the year, five of which have hit the target.

 
Last Time Out

• The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers picked up their first win of the season on Monday night when they took down the William & Mary Tribe 2-1.
• Sophomore Christian Cook picked up his first goal on the year with the help of an assist from Noe Santos to put the Chants up 1-0.
• Transfer Deryn Brown picked up his first goal wearing the teal and bronze on Monday night after being taken down in the penalty box. Brown stepped up to the spot and nailed the ball into the bottom right corner to give CCU a 2-0.
• The Tribe got one goal back in the 52nd minute off a counterattack to narrow the gap to 2-1 but CCU held on to secure the win.
• William & Mary outshot Coastal 14-11 but the Chants led the Tribe 6-4 in saves.

History Against

• This is the ninth encounter between CCU and USC Upstate.
• The Chants have a 4-3-1 record versus USC Upstate while going 4-2-1 at home.
• Its first matchup came in 1981 when the Chants fell short 4-2.
• Last time out in Aug. 2022, Coastal took a 4-1 win with the help of goals from Cook and Santos, along with assists from Eythor Kjartannson and Santos.
