Chants to face a challenging field to open the 2023-24 season
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team will tee off the new season at the Island Resort Intercollegiate running Sunday-Monday, Sept. 3-4 at the Sage Run Golf Course in Bark River, Mich.
South Dakota State will host the two-day, 54-hole event. The field will play 36 holes on Sunday and the final 18 holes on Monday on the par-72, 7,375 yards course.
The Chanticleers will join 10 other teams at the intercollegiate, which includes Michigan, Central Florida, Illinois State, Miami (Ohio), Boise State, St. Mary's (CA), Ohio, Bowling Green, North Texas, Kent State, and host South Dakota State.
Head coach and Coastal alum Jacob Wilner will begin his second season with CCU with a mixture of experienced and young Chanticleers. Making the trip up north will be Seth Taylor, Garrett Cooper, Jack Lee, Ludvig Erikson, and Brady Duval.
Trace McDonald, Connor Bennink, and Owen Kim will play the event as individuals.
"We are excited to start the 2023-24 season," Wilner said. "The golf course is in awesome shape and is very challenging. Our guys have been able to play it a few times and will be ready to go come Sunday."
