COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's indoor track and field team competed in its first meet of the 2024 season in Columbia, S.C. today at the Gamecock Opener.
In their first of two meets in Columbia, the Chants sent 30 athletes to compete in 14 different competitions this weekend, sending multiple in finals of their respective competitions.
The top finishers of the day included junior
Amilia Wise-Sweat coming in second in the women's 1000m, freshman
Callie Wilson finishing fifth in women's pole vault, sophomore
Claire Spiller in sixth in the women's triple jump, advancing her to the finals, and junior
Keiran Martin completing the women's long jump with a total distance of 5.68m, which was good for fifth on the leaderboard. Spiller followed her performance with a top-place finish in the triple jump's final round, narrowing Georgia Southern's Jailah Lee with a 12.01m final posting.
Following their strong performance in the Gamecock Opener, Coastal will return to Columbia, S.C. next weekend for their subsequent meet, the Carolina Challenge, on Jan. 19-20.
