Men’s Soccer Set to Host Old Dominion in Midweek Match

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team are set to host the Old Dominion Monarchs at the CCU Soccer Complex on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. ET.

Coastal owns a 3-7-2, 1-2-2 Sun Belt record.
Harrison Gough was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. This marks the second straight week that the Chants have picked up Player of the Week honors after Gudjon Stefansson won on Oct. 15.
The last time Coastal had back-to-back Player of the Week honorees was in 2021 when former Chants Danny Cabrera and Alvaro Garcia-Pascual were Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week selections.
Gough was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Men's Soccer National Team of the Week after recording a career-high nine saves in his third straight shutout versus No. 3 Marshall. The last time Coastal achieved this feat was when Marcello Jones was a selection in November 2020.

Last Time Out

Coastal secured a 0-0 tie versus the No. 3 Marshall Thundering Herd.
CCU was outshot 23-3 in the outing and trailed 16-0 in corner kicks.
Loed Klaasen had a 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage and forced the Marshall keeper to make two saves in the contest.
The Chants had eight players compete in the full 90 minutes of the match.
Gough recorded his second shutout versus a ranked opponent.

History Against

CCU owns a 5-2-1 record versus Old Dominion.
The Chants are unbeaten at home, posting a 3-0 record in Conway S.C.
Coastal will look to bounce back from its 3-1 defeat to the Monarchs last time out in September 2023
CCU averages 2.25 goals per match against ODU and has outscored the Monarchs 18-10 over its eight encounters.

Scouting the Opponent

ODU has a 4-6-2 overall record on the season and is 0-4-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Monarchs are led first-year head coach Tennant McVea.
Old Dominion is sitting on a two-match losing streak after falling to UCF and Kentucky.
ODU has not scored a goal since Sept. 29 when it suffered a 2-1 defeat to No. 7 Marshall.
Michael Eberle tops the team with three goals while Key White leads the team with eight points after recording two goals and four assists.
The Monarchs were predicted to finish eighth in the SBC preseason coaches' poll, but currently sit in last place.
