Coastal Lacrosse Set for Road Matchup vs. Davidson

CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team is set for the second game of its three-game road trip, as the Chants face the Davidson Wildcats tomorrow night at Richardson Stadium in Davidson, N.C. 

History vs Davidson 

The Chants have faced Davidson five times in their program's history, with the Wildcats holding a 4-1 series lead. The first time these two programs faced each other dates back to CCU's inaugural season in 2013 when the Wildcats defeated the Chants 18-8 in Conway. Last season's meeting ended in a 13-8 win for the Wildcats. Coastal's lone win over Davidson came in March 2021 in the form of a 12-7 win at Brooks Stadium. 

About Coastal 

Coastal enters this week 1-2 on the season after losing on the road to No. 19 Clemson 16-5 over the weekend.  

As a team, the Chants have scored 35 goals on 69 shot attempts (56 on goal), coming off 21 assists so far this season. Their average of seven assists per game is good for a share of 29th in the country with Clemson and Davidson. CCU is also 47th in clear percentage, 27th in draw controls, 23rd in shot percentage and 43rd in defensive scoring. 

Following her pair of hat-tricks against Vermont and Wofford to open the season, senior midfielder Monica Manley continues to lead the Chants in goals scored with six to go with four assists.  

About Davidson 

The Wildcats come into the week 2-1 after their first three games of 2024, losing to Clemson 19-10 on opening day, followed by double-digit wins over Winthrop and Stetson. Through three games, junior midfielder Josie Lambert and freshman attacker Jenna Skibbe are tied with a team-leading 11 goals, 21 of those combined goals coming from open play. In their 20-2 rout of Winthrop, Skibbe scored a season-high six goals on just 11 attempts. 

Davidson also features a strong backline of seniors Alyssa Natoli, Noelle Cegielski, Morgan O'Brien and Brynn Jones and junior Reagan Terrell, who have combined for 14 caused turnovers and 17 ground balls. 

Senior goalkeeper Paige Doyle is the only Wildcat to feature between the posts so far this season, recording 27 saves, including a season-high 14 against Clemson, with a 51% save percentage. 

CCU vs. Davidson from Richardson Stadium in Davidson, N.C. is officially set for a 6:30 P.M. ET start time.
