CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team hosts its first home event of the season this weekend as the Chanticleers host the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Mar. 15-16. The Chants will welcome Tusculum and Central Arkansas at the CCU Sand Courts on Friday and Saturday.
SUN BELT SUPERLATIVE
Martine Kragholm and
Raychel Ehlers were named the Sun Belt Conference Beach Volleyball Player of the Week on Wednesday. Kragholm and Riedell went 3-1 at the Tampa Invite on court one which included a straight-set win (21-15, 21-6) over No. 20 Tampa. The duo is 8-4 together this sesaon as CCU's No. 1 pair. Kragholm and Riedell currently sit at No. 2 on Coastal's career pair wins list with 38 victories, while Kragholm is CCU's career individual wins leader with 77.
HOME SWEET HOME
Coastal Carolina is 32-14 all-time at home and the Chanticleers have won 32 of their last 40 home matches over the last five seasons. Coastal won its final three home contests last season and has won eight of its last nine matches at home.
COASTAL & TUSCULUM HISTORY
The two teams will be meeting for the seventh time, as the Sandy Chants are 6-0 all-time against Tusculum. The Pioneers and Chants met twice last season with CCU winning 5-0 both times.
COASTAL & CENTRAL ARKANSAS HISTORY
Coastal Carolina has won its only meeting against Central Arkansas. The Chanticleers won a 3-2 decision against the Bears in 2021.
