CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team earned a pair of sweeps on day one of the Coastal Carolina Invitational, beating Tusculum and Central Arkansas 5-0 on the CCU Sand Courts.

Coastal Carolina moves to 8-6 on the season.
 
Match 1: Coastal Carolina 5, Tusculum 0
 
Coastal grabbed an early lead when Madison Allred and Raychel Ehlers earned a 21-11, 21-15 win on court five. Madie Lichty and Denisse Morgenstern followed with a gutsy 21-9, 22-24, 15-8 victory at the No. 4 flight to give the Chants a 2-0 lead.

Julia Blazek and Emma Plutnick clinched the win on court two, winning 21-18, 21-13. Ellie Hanford and Emma Kunaus notched a 24-22, 21-12 win at the No. 2 flight and Martine Kragholm and Sarah Riedell closed the match by fighting off the Pioneers for a 21-17, 19-21, 15-11 victory on court one.
 
Match 2: Coastal Carolina 5, Central Arkansas 0
 
Coastal cruised in the first wave as Allred and Ehlers posted a 21-5, 21-14 win on court five before Lichty and Morgenstern recorded a 21-9, 21-12 victory at No. 4. 

Hanford and Kunaus gave the Chanticleers the win with a 21-11, 21-18 result on at the No. 3 flight. Blazek and Plutnicki followed with a 21-18, 21-15 win on court two. Kragholm and Riedell concluded the day with a 21-18, 21-11 victory at the No. 1 flight, giving the Chants a sweep without dropping a set.

The Sandy Chants face Central Arkansas at 9:00 a.m. and Tusculum at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
