AWENDEW, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team finished 11th with a 15-over 879 (295-286-298) at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, played at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.
Seth Taylor shot a two-under 70 (35-35) in Tuesday's final round, and was the Chanticleers low-scorer of the event with an even-par 216 (75-71-70). He finished tied for 19th.
After shooting a one-over 73 (39-34) in Tuesday's third round,
Trey Crenshaw finished the tournament tied for 41st with a four-over 220 (74-73-73). He was tied for sixth in par 5 scoring with a 4.60 scoring average.
Trace McDonald was tied with Crenshaw at 41st after his four-over 220 (73-70-77), while
Jack Lee finished tied for 55th with a seven-over 223 (73-72-78) and
Garrett Cooper was 80th with a 17-over 233 (76-77-80).
McDonald was tied for sixth in par 4 scoring with his 3.96 scoring average, while Lee was tied for third in eagles with one.
LSU was able to move into the top spot with a one-under round in Tuesday's final round to finish with a 15-under 849. New Mexico, which entered the final round in the top spot, fell to a second-place finish after a shooting a seven-over in the Tuesday's action. Its nine-under 855 was just two shots better than Purdue, who finished third at seven-under 857.
The College of Charleston made the largest jump of the day, moving up three spots to finish fourth with a six-under 858, just two strokes in front of South Carolina (-4, 860).
East Tennessee State and Missouri finished tied for sixth with a one-over 865, with West Virginia (+3, 867) eighth, Kent State (+9, 873) ninth, and North Carolina State (+12, 876) finishing 10th, just three strokes in front of the Chants.
The rest of the field included Kentucky (+17, 291), Furman (+20, 884), Toledo (+23, 887), and Marquette (+28, 892).
The Chants will be back in action April 12-13 at the Stitch Intercollegiate, hosted by North Carolina State at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C.
