Chants Set for Conference Opener vs. Lindenwood on Senior Day

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team (6-4, 0-0 ASUN) is set for senior day and its ASUN Conference opener against the Lindenwood Lions (9-1, ASUN 0-0) tomorrow afternoon at Brooks Stadium. 


History vs. Lindenwood 

In two previous meetings against Lindenwood, Coastal is 1-1 against the Lions. Last season, the Chants lost the regular season meeting at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. 14-13, but defeated the Lions in the opening round of the ASUN Conference Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. 17-11. 

About Coastal 

CCU is coming off a 15-8 win over Campbell on Wednesday that marks the third straight for the Chants, and the fifth in their last six outings.  

Five Chants ended the night with 2+ goals on the scoresheet with Alyson Mascolo, Avery Snyder, Gabrielle Beaudet, Avery McIlwaine and Erin Clark each getting on the scoresheet twice. In her 20th career start for CCU, senior midfielder Monica Manley assisted on two of the team's 15 goals, while also picking up a ground ball. As a team, CCU scored 15 goals on 31 total attempts, 22 on goal, and four goals coming off free position attempts. 

On the defensive end, Coastal picked up 12 ground balls and 13 draw controls and caused six turnovers. Goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler, in her 20th appearance for the Chants, saved 10 of Campbell's 18 attempts on target, moving her season total to 90. 

After the win, the Chants moved to 6-4 on the season. Starting with tomorrow's matchup with Lindenwood, CCU will close out the season with six of their final seven games against ASUN opponents, and four on the road. 

About Lindenwood 

Lindenwood enters the weekend at 9-1 on the season heading into the conference opener in Conway. The Lions are coming off a 17-10 win over Youngstown State on Wednesday, Mar. 20. In previous results, LU has defeated San Diego State, Louisville, California and Central Michigan.  

CCU vs. Lindenwood will start tomorrow at noon P.M. ET, with the senior day ceremony following the game's conclusion.
