Opening Rd of The Valspar

Second round was suspended due to darkness

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot an 11-over 299 in the opening round of the Valspar Augusta Invitational and after play was suspended due to darkness in the middle of round two, the Chants' were 17th at 19-over.

Going back to the end of the first round, Sara Sarrion led the Chanticleers shooting an even-par 72 (35-37) with three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars.

Freshman Varatkarn Kunkaew shot a one-over 73 (38-35). After shooting a two-over in the opening nine holes, she completed the first round with a birdie on the 10th hole and eight consecutive pars.

Hannah Karg finished the opening 18 holes at three-over 75 (40-35), while Isabella Galla shot a seven over 79 (42-37) and Luisa Gibson shot an 81 (40-41).

Ole Miss leads the 17-team invite at 14-under with South Carolina just for shots back at 10-under. Auburn (-9), Clemson (-5), Alabama (-5), and Georgia (-5) round out the top five scores.

The Valspar was moved up a day due to bad weather moving into the area on Saturday. The second round is scheduled to begin at final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. ET., on Sunday with the third and final round immediately after.
