CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina softball team will hit the road to take on the Marshall Thundering Herd for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series on April 19-21.
 
LAST TIME OUT

• The Chants suffered a 10-5 defeat to the Charlotte 49ers on Wednesday evening.
• Delaney Keith smashed a season-high four RBIs versus the 49ers, recording a two-run double and a two-run home run.
• Keith's homer marks her team-leading eighth of the season.
• Libby Pippin scored a career-high three runs after reaching base on two walks and a single. She is one of five Chants to have recorded three runs in one game, along with Keith, Georgia Hood, Indya Smith, and Riley Zana.

 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

• Marshall has a 20-21 overall record and is 6-9 in league play.
• The Thundering Herd are ninth in the Sun Belt Conference standings.
• Marshall is coming off a three-game series sweep at the hands of the James Madison Dukes.
• Marshall has picked up two series wins over Georgia Southern and Georgia State but has fallen to JMU, ULM, and Southern Miss.
• The Thundering Herd have played three ranked opponents in No. 12 Arkansas, No. 23 Arizona, and No. 23 Kentucky, and have been outscored 39-9.
• Five players in the Marshall lineup are batting over .300 on the year and Brooklyn Ulrich leads the team with a .389 batting average.
• Bella Gerlach is a player to watch as she leads the team with 43 RBIs and 13 home runs.
• The Herds' pitching staff owns a 4.92 ERA on the season with Bub Feringa leading the team with a 3.33 ERA and 49 strikeouts.

 
HISTORY AGAINST

• CCU has a 7-6 record versus Marshall.
• The Chants have a perfect 1-0 record on the road.
• Coastal has a 1-1 Sun Belt Conference series record versus the Thundering Herd and is coming off a 2-1 series loss last season.
• CCU will be seeking revenge after falling to Marshall 2-1 in the 2023 Sun Belt Conference tournament quarterfinals.
• The Chant will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Thundering Herd.
