Hannah Karg is the overall leader

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team is seventh after the second round at the Golfweek Intercollegiate with a 23-over 591 (294-297) after completing Tuesday's round at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.

Swirling winds made play tough in Tuesday's round as only one team was able to complete play in under-par fashion. The conditions also kept the leaderboard jumbled as only 15 strokes separate the top seven teams.

Graduate student Hannah Karg went into Tuesday's action one shot off the individual lead and after firing a one-under 70 (36-34) in the second round, has moved into the individual lead with a three-under 139 (69-70). After a bogey on the opening hole of the day, the Hamburg, Germany native finished the final 17 holes in two-under fashion, carding two birdies and 15 pars as she moved to the top of the leaderboard.

Over the first two rounds, Karg is tied for first in par 3 scoring with a 2.80 scoring average and is tied for fourth in par 4 scoring with a 3.94 average. Her 27 pars are tied for third while her six total birdies are tied for seventh.

Freshman Varatkarn Kunkaew shot an even-par 71 (37-34) in Tuesday's second round and has moved into a tie for 14th with a four-over 146 (75-71). Like Karg, Kunkaew struggled early, but finished strong carding nine pars and two birdies over her final 11 holes. Her three total birdies were a team-high in the second round.

Sara Sarrion shot a seven-over 78 (39-39) in the second round and will enter Wednesday's final round tied for 39th with an eight-over 150 (72-78). Sarrion has 26 pars over the first two rounds which is tied for the ninth-most over the first two rounds.

Luisa Gibson (78-79) and Carolina Hortian (79-78) are tied for 80th with a 15-over 157, while Elan Fleetwood, who is playing as an individual, stands 95th with a 22-over 164 (81-83). Hortian is one of the leaders in par 5 scoring as her 4.50 scoring average is tied for first in the event.

High Point moved into the top spot sporting a six-over par 574, while Florida Gulf Coast moved up five spots into second after shooting a three-under in Tuesday's round. FGCU was the only under-par team on the day, and made the largest move of the round and is only three strokes out of first with a nine-over 577.

Cal Poly fell two spots into third and will enter the final round with a 14-over 582. Austin Peay remains fourth with an 18-over 586 and USC Upstate is fifth at 19-over 587.

North Dakota State (+20, 588) is only three shots in front of the Chants, while Florida Atlantic (+26, 594) is eighth and UNC Asheville (+29, 597) is ninth. Ohio and UIC are tied for 10th at 30-over 598 and St. Thomas is 12th with a 35-over 603. Akron made the second largest jump of the round, moving up four spots into 13th at 38-over 606. Georgetown (+42, 610) and Winthrop (+43, 611) round out the top 15.

The rest of the field includes Tennessee Tech (+49, 617), Fairleigh Dickinson (+52, 620), Marshall (+57, 625), and Evansville (+62, 630).
