Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at the Golfweek Intercollegiate

Hannah Karg picks up the individual medalist honor
PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team finished seventh at Golfweek Intercollegiate after the third round was cancelled due to rain. The Chants finished with a 23-over 591 (294-297) at the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club located in Pawleys Island, S.C.
Coastal had the best round going of the third round with a two-over, before heavy rain moved into the area to stop play mid-round.
Hannah Karg was the individual medalist of the event after finishing the event with a three-under 139 (69-70). It is Karg's second individual title this season after winning The Southern held back in October at the Savannah Golf Club in Savannah, Ga.
Over the two rounds, Karg was tied for first in par 3 scoring with a 2.80 scoring average and tied for fourth in par 4 scoring with a 3.94 average. Her 27 pars were tied for third while her six total birdies tied for seventh.
Freshman Varatkarn Kunkaew was tied for 14th with a four-over 146 (75-71).
Sara Sarrion shot a seven-over 78 (39-39) and finished tied for 39th with an eight-over 150 (72-78). Sarrion's 26 pars over the two rounds was tied for the ninth-most in the event.
Luisa Gibson (78-79) and Carolina Hortian (79-78) tied for 80th with a 15-over 157, while Elan Fleetwood, who is played as an individual, finished 95th with a 22-over 164 (81-83). Hortian was one of the leaders in par 5 scoring as her 4.50 scoring average was tied for first in the event.
High Point won the championship with a six-over par 574, while Florida Gulf Coast finished second only three strokes out of first with a nine-over 577.
Cal Poly was third with a 14-over 582, while Austin Peay finished fourth with an 18-over 586 and USC Upstate was fifth at 19-over 587.
North Dakota State (+20, 588) was only three shots in front of the Chants, while Florida Atlantic (+26, 594) finished eighth and UNC Asheville (+29, 597) was ninth. Ohio and UIC finished tied for 10th at 30-over 598 and St. Thomas was 12th with a 35-over 603. Akron finished 13th at 38-over 606. Georgetown (+42, 610) and Winthrop (+43, 611) rounded out the top 15.
The rest of the field included Tennessee Tech (+49, 617), Fairleigh Dickinson (+52, 620), Marshall (+57, 625), and Evansville (+62, 630).
The Chants will play its final regular season match of the season when they play in the Wolfpack Match Play Invitational on April 8-9 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C.
