Chants Face Kennesaw State in Regular Season Finale

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team (11-5, 4-1 ASUN) is set to take on the Kennesaw State Owls (5-10, 0-5 ASUN) in their regular-season finale tomorrow afternoon at Brooks Stadium.

History vs. Kennesaw State

The Chants are 10-1 all-time against Kennesaw State, with their lone loss coming in 2022 in a 16-14 loss at Brooks Stadium. Last season, Coastal defeated the Owls on the road 17-7 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

About Coastal

With the win over Stetson on Apr. 21, Coastal clinched the second seed in the ASUN Championship next week at Rock Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. With postseason play on the horizon, the Chants have won eight of their last nine games, including a seven-game winning streak that propelled them to that second-place finish in the conference standings.

In the seven-goal win last week over the Hatters, senior Avery McIlwaine opened the scoring with a goal in the first minute of the game, giving her the 100th of her career in three years with CCU and one with Furman. The Chants now feature eight players in double figures in the scoring department this season, led by senior Sydney McClure with a career-high 34. Former ASUN Player of the Week Maddie Bates is up to 31 goals on the season, scoring 17 in the previous four games.

Coastal capped off the win over Stetson with a season-high 24 goals on 40 total attempts, 30 on target, scoring six goals from free position attempts. McIlwaine's season-high five goals led the Chants on the scoresheet. Five others finished with multi-goal efforts with McClure adding four, Monica Manley with three and Bates, Abi George and Evelyn Kitchin each scoring twice.

Tomorrow, CCU will look to continue their strong run of play at home against a Kennesaw State team who is winless in ASUN Conference play this season.

About Kennesaw State

The Owls enter the final week of the regular season with a 5-10 overall record and a 0-5 record in conference play. They are coming off a 17-6 loss on the road against Lindenwood, their seventh consecutive loss after starting the season 4-1.

CCU vs. Kennesaw State is set for a noon ET kickoff tomorrow at Brooks Stadium, streaming on the goccusports.com website.
