CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team (8-4, 2-0 ASUN) is set to travel to Nashville, Tenn. to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (7-5, 1-2 AAC) tomorrow at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.
History vs. Vanderbilt
In three previous meetings with the Commodores, Coastal is 1-2, including a 17-13 win at Brooks Stadium a season ago. Vanderbilt won the two previous meetings during the 2017 and 2022 seasons.
About Coastal
The Chants enter the week at 8-4 overall, and a perfect 2-0 in conference play. CCU is currently in a share of second place in the ASUN Conference standings with Queens (Charlotte), who Coastal will face on Saturday in the penultimate game of their current four-game road trip, behind first-placed Jacksonville.
The Chants' most recent result is a 14-9 win over Liberty on Thursday, Apr. 4 at the Liberty Lacrosse Complex in Lynchburg, Va. In the win against the Flames, senior forward Maddie Bates scored a career-high six goals to the lead the Chants to their second consecutive conference win, her sixth multi-goal effort of the season. Junior Attacker Brigid Cardillo also scored a career-high four goals in the win, moving her season tally to 13, along with the team's second highest assist total with 16. Bates now features as Coastal's third player with 20+ goals through the first 12 games, along with seniors Sydney McClure and Monica Manley with 25 and 23, respectively.
On the defensive end, goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler has recorded 109 saves this season, averaging just shy of nine per contest, which ranks 25th in Division one.
Coastal will look to extend their winning streak to six with just five games remaining until the start of the ASUN Conference Tournament on May 2.
About Vanderbilt
The Commodores are coming off a 9-5 win on the road over Old Dominion on Apr. 6, giving them their first conference win of the season. They currently sit in fifth place in the American Conference standings with a 1-2 record following their most recent win. Vanderbilt is 4-3 in their last seven games, defeating Arizona State, Mercer, Xavier and Old Dominion.
The Commodores also feature three players with 20+ goals through their opening 12 games, including junior attacker Molly Finlay leading with 26, junior midfielder Kemper Robinson with 25 and graduate midfielder Brooke Baker with 22.
