Coastal Faces Lindenwood in ASUN Semifinals

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team (12-5, 5-1 ASUN) is set to face the No. 3 seed Lindenwood Lions (13-4, 3-3 ASUN) tomorrow afternoon in the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Championship at Rock Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. 

History vs. Lindenwood 

CCU is 2-1 all-time against Lindenwood in three previous meetings. The two programs met earlier this season for the ASUN Conference opener at Brooks Stadium on Mar. 30, which resulted in a 15-13 win for the Chants. 

About Coastal 

Coastal enters postseason play as winners of nine of their final 10 games, finishing the regular season with a 12-5 overall record and a 5-1 record in conference play, and with that clinching the No. 2 seed in this week's ASUN Conference Championship in Jacksonville, Fla.  

In the regular season finale, the Chants defeated Kennesaw State 17-7 at Brooks Stadium, improving their all-time record to 11-1 against the Owls.  

Senior forward Sydney McClure leads the Chants in scoring with 38 goals and 66 points and is second in assists with 28. Coastal also features eight players in double-figures in scoring, as well as three with 30+ goals. Over the final six games of the season, senior Maddie Bates has scored 19 goals, improving her season total to a career-high 33.

Yesterday, freshman Evelyn Kitchin was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week. With her 11-draw control performance against Kennesaw State, Kitchin broke the CCU single season draw control record with 73 draw controls this season. The record was previously held by current midfielder Devin Rybacki with 67 last season. 

Goalkeeper Charlotte Sadler currently leads the ASUN Conference with 140 saves this season and continues to rank inside the top-40 in Division I in saves per game at 8.24.

About Lindenwood 

Lindenwood earned the No. 3 seed in the ASUN Conference Championship after going 3-3 in conference play. The Lions were picked to finish six in the preseason coaches' poll, tied on points with fifth-placed Kennesaw State and just nine points ahead of last-placed Stetson.  

The Lions closed out the regular season portion of their schedule with a 13-12 win on senior day over Queens Hunter Stadium on Apr. 27.  

CCU vs. Lindenwood is set for a 4 P.M. ET start following the first matchup of the day between No. 1 seed Jacksonville and No. 4 seed Liberty at 1 P.M. ET at Rock Stadium.
