Men’s Soccer Hits the Road to Face UNCG

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer will take on the UNCG Spartans in its first road contest of the year on Aug. 25 in Greensboro, N.C. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk
  • The Chants have a 0-1-0 record on the season.
  • This is the first of five road contests for the Chanticleers.
  • CCU stretched the legs of 20 players in its season opener versus UNCW.
  • 11 Chants made their debut last Thursday with Nathan Schnur, Welnilton Da Silva Jr., Leon Olacio, Pierson Davis, and Kaito Ueki making their first starts while wearing teal and bronze.
Last Time Out
  • The Chants suffered a 4-2 defeat to the College of Charleston in their season-opener at the new CCU Soccer Complex.
  • CCU took an early lead when Deryn Armstrong netted the first goal of the night after just five minutes of action.
  • Ueki doubled Coastal's lead in the 55th minute when he netted the rebound on Armstrong's saved penalty kick to make the score 2-0.
  • The Cougars were awarded a penalty kick of their own in the 63rd minute, which they capitalized on to narrow the gap to 2-1.
  • In the 74th minute, CofC leveled the match when Noah Gold found the back of the net to make the score 2-2.
  • The Cougars took the lead for the first time when Leonardo D'Ambrosio laced CofC's third goal of the match on an assist from Chris Cushing.
  • CofC's Matt Lenert put the match to rest in the 83rd minute when he linked up with Ezra White and Adil Iggoute to give the Cougars a 4-2 victory.
  • CCU was outshot 24-12 and each keeper tallied four saves apiece.
History Against
  • CCU has a 9-12-2 record versus UNC Greensboro.
  • In their last 10 matchups, the record stands at 3-6-1.
  • The Chants battled to a 1-1 tie in their last matchup in September 2023.
