CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team will travel to Columbia, S.C., to face in-state foe South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk

• The Chanticleers enter the match with a 2-8-0 overall record and a 1-5-0 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.
• Coastal snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Georgia State on Oct. 22. Loed Klaasen tallied three assists in the win . Klaasen is the first Chant to record three assists in a single match since Eythor Kjartansson accomplished the feat in a 4-1 victory over Georgia Southern in November 2022.
• Freshman Angel Lopez netted a brace against the Panthers, marking the first two-goal performance by a Chanticleer since Doug Hainer scored twice versus Presbyterian in September 2024
• Klaasen leads the team with 13 points (three goals and seven assists) and ranks second in the Sun Belt and fifth nationally with an average of 0.70 assists per match.
• Coastal is unbeaten when scoring three goals and remains undefeated when leading at halftime this season.
• Pierson Davis leads the team with 900 minutes played and has extended his streak of playing the full 90 minutes to 26 consecutive matches (16 games in 2024 and 10 in 2025).

History Against

• Coastal Carolina holds a 10-4-1 all-time record against South Carolina and will look to snap a two-match losing streak to the Gamecocks.
• The Chants are 4-3-0 on the road versus USC and have outshot the Gamecocks 15-11 in away contests.
• The first-ever meeting between the two programs came in November 1992, with Coastal earning a 2-0 overtime victory. The Chants average 2.13 goals per match all-time against South Carolina.

Scouting the Opponent

• South Carolina enters the matchup with a 7-6-2 overall record and a 1-3-2 mark in Sun Belt play. The Gamecocks currently sit seventh in the conference standings, while the Chanticleers are ninth.
• USC is coming off a 4-0 defeat to No. 9-ranked Marshall and earned its lone conference victory with a 2-1 win over James Madison on Sept. 28.
• Ethan Ballek leads the Sun Belt and ranks 16th nationally with an average of 3.14 shots per match. He also tops the Gamecocks' scoring chart with 16 points on six goals and four assists.
• Goalkeeper Filip Versterre has been USC's primary option between the posts, logging 1,339 of the team's 1,350 minutes this season. He has recorded 42 saves and holds a 1.75 goals-against average.
• Defensively, the Gamecocks have allowed a league-high 26 goals and hold the lowest save percentage (.618) in the Sun Belt this season.
