Men’s Soccer Set for In-State Clash at South Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team will travel to Columbia, S.C., to face in-state foe South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk
  • The Chanticleers enter the match with a 2-8-0 overall record and a 1-5-0 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.
  • Coastal snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Georgia State on Oct. 22. Loed Klaasen tallied three assists in the win . Klaasen is the first Chant to record three assists in a single match since Eythor Kjartansson accomplished the feat in a 4-1 victory over Georgia Southern in November 2022.
  • Freshman Angel Lopez netted a brace against the Panthers, marking the first two-goal performance by a Chanticleer since Doug Hainer scored twice versus Presbyterian in September 2024
  • Klaasen leads the team with 13 points (three goals and seven assists) and ranks second in the Sun Belt and fifth nationally with an average of 0.70 assists per match.
  • Coastal is unbeaten when scoring three goals and remains undefeated when leading at halftime this season.

  • Goalkeeper Filip Versterre has been USC's primary option between the posts, logging 1,339 of the team's 1,350 minutes this season. He has recorded 42 saves and holds a 1.75 goals-against average.
  • Defensively, the Gamecocks have allowed a league-high 26 goals and hold the lowest save percentage (.618) in the Sun Belt this season.
