CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against James Madison on Tuesday evening at the CCU Soccer Complex, securing a spot in the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
- With the result, the Chanticleers finish the regular season 3-9-1 overall and 2-6-1 in Sun Belt play, earning the No. 8 seed in the conference standings.
- The Chanticleers controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Dukes 13-2 and holding a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
- Jon Almudi, Christian Cook, and Jaland Larmond each forced a save but Coastal was unable to find the back of the net before halftime.
- The breakthrough came early in the second half as Larmond converted in the 47th minute, netting his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Cook.
- However, the Dukes equalized in the 70th minute when Austin Rome headed home a free kick from Milo Wray to level the score at 1-1.
- At the final whistle, Coastal led 17-9 in total shots and matched James Madison with seven corner kicks apiece.
Coastal Carolina will now travel to Lexington, Ky., to face top-seeded and nationally ranked No. 18 Kentucky in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
